Beauties on Fire: Monochrome

Beauties on Fire: Monochrome

Hi everyone! First up, have you entered my giveaway?

Now it’s time for another Beauties on Fire collab! As the last two BoF looks I did were blue smoky eyes, I decided to branch out for a more wearable everyday look for the Monochrome theme.

Okay, yes, I considered a stormy blue-gray look. But I’m fast approaching too-much-of-a-good-thing levels of dark blue eyeshadow looks for the same collab.

What is Beauties on Fire? It’s a Facebook group hosted by the lovely Beth from Everything and Nothin’, meant as a support group for any and all beauty and fashion bloggers. We help others, share our posts and social media, and celebrate each other’s successes! Every month, we put on a collab post based on a theme. Everyone (whether you are a blogger or are part of the FB group or not) is able to vote on the theme via a Twitter poll.

I started out with a simple base – Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Porcelain and Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Light Sand, setting with a translucent powder.

My July BoF look uses warm pink/coral/peachy shades, which are light, summery shades. I did some swatching on my hand to compare my lipstick shades with blushes and eyeshadows. These were Freestyle by Urban Decay (eyeshadow), Luminoso by Milani (blush), and Snow Cap by Nyx (Butter Lipstick).

To help the shades look even more similar, I used Rosé from Tarte (Tarteist Lip Paint) and Eclipse from Anastasia Beverly Hills (Aurora Glow Kit).

I finished off the eyes with three additional Urban Decay shades: Polyester Bride, Alchemy, and Sonic. Alchemy is more of a berry shade while Sonic is more of an orange-based red. I could use the two to define my crease and darken my lashline while still being in the same color family and make Freestyle match the face makeup more.

My lipstick shade was the least similar of the three main shades, so I decided to go for something a bit darker but tonally more similar, Rosé. I made a quick lip ombre for the look, starting with applying Snow Cap over my entire lip. I then added Rosé along the edges and the outer thirds of my lips, then rubbed my lips together to blend.

To finish off the look, I used Urban Decay Perversion Mascara – no liner here today! – doing my brows (L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper), and using a setting spray (Urban Decay All Nighter).

The look may be simple, but I think it’s pretty and perfect for everyday! Don’t forget to check out the other Beauties on Fire looks via our link-up here.

  1. I hope my comment goes through this time.. lol.
I really love this look on you, one of my favorites!! The tones look really good against your skin tone and I love how your inner corner highlight. And the wash of color on your cheeks, just all around beautiful. This could be an everyday look!

    1. Thanks! I do like wearing this blush often and it’s a tone that I do like a lot! I don’t know why, but I rarely reach for that inner corner shade… I need to break it out more!
