Hello all! Welcome back to another month’s empties post. This month I mostly used up minis. I also used up a ton of makeup products but barely any skincare, which is a complete 180 from my norm. It’s a weird month for me, for sure! Anyway, onto the mini reviews!
I got the Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil in my May Sephora Play! (post here). It was a nice, luxurious, good-scented cleansing oil. I prefer a very thin, watery consistency in a cleansing oil, and this was a bit thick for my taste. Would I repurchase? No – the full size is over $70!
Ren Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream was from a Sephora Favorites set (review here). It’s very similar to the Mario Badescu Oil-Free Moisturizer and I really like the formula. There’s nothing in here that really seems special, but nothing that was a major flaw (other than maybe no SPF?). I’m not sure if it’s just an average moisturizer or one of those perfect fits for my skin. Would I repurchase? Maybe.
Sheet masks (not pictured) – I’ve never considered saving sheet masks’ packaging, so of course this month I did remember to save it… only to forget to take a picture!
Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black – I think this was from a Birchbox or a free gift from an online Sephora purchase about a year ago? I did enjoy the scent, and it’s my favorite of the Nirvana line. Would I repurchase? Maybe as a rollerball.
The body products:
Tuscan Hills hand cream in Olive Harvest and Almond Vanilla – These did absolutely nothing for me! I bought a set of six, thinking the lighter, less floral scents might be better for work. The packaging looks cheap and clunky, the tubes are half-filled with air, and I had to reapply every fifteen minutes because this did barely anything. I used up the first tube in about three days. Would I repurchase? No, but I will finish up the rest of these.
The Healing Garden Salt Scrub in Orange Blossom was great! I enjoyed the epsom salt – it definitely felt like it did a great job, unlike some sugar scrubs. The scent was also very nice! Would I repurchase? Yeah.
Coola Radical Recovery After-Sun Lotion – I don’t understand after-sun lotion. This just seemed like an average, lightweight body lotion. Is it supposed to do anything extra, because otherwise what’s the point of using lotion after the sun? It seems like one of those marketing ploys, especially since I’d rather not work any sweat, dirt, etc. deeper into my skin. Would I repurchase? No.
The hair products:
Verb Sea Spray (unfinished) was another June Sephora Play duds. This is more about the fact that sea salt sprays don’t work for me. I don’t get any beachy waves, and instead just get hair that feels stiff and gross, like I haven’t washed it in two months. This did smell nice, though.
R+Co Oblivion Clarifying Shampoo – This was a pretty good sulfate-free shampoo. I normally go for frizz-fighting or hydrating shampoos, though. Would I repurchase? Nah.
I enjoyed the Rahua Omega 9 Hair Mask. It didn’t seem to be anything spectacular, as far as hair masks go, but I liked the scent and the ingredients. Would I repurchase? No.
The face makeup:
I finished off another sample of the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil. This may actually be my favorite primer, especially for this time of year when my skin isn’t too dry. I only need three or four drops for my face, and my makeup looks great throughout the day! Would I repurchase? I have another mini to go through, but YES!
CoverGirl CG Smoothers BB Cream – This is one of my favorite BB creams. It’s lightweight, easy to apply, can be used as primer or on its own, and gives some of the sheerest coverage of all the BB creams I’ve tried. This is my second tube of the stuff, actually. Would I repurchase? Again, yes.
The Well People Bio-Correct Concealer (unfinished) was a great match for me, especially considering it was a Birchbox sample (this is the shade Light). It’s not too light for my skin (light concealers always look weird on my under-eyes, especially when I wear lighter coverage on my face). It’s a nice formula that blended out easily but still gave good coverage, but it just got old.
City Color HD Powder – I liked this powder, but as it’s the first HD powder I ever used, it’s hard to compare it to much. It’s much finer than normal colored face powders, and so gave my skin a softer finish. Would I repurchase? Yeah.
The Coola Makeup Setting Spray (unfinished) from this month’s Sephora Play! (review here) smelled very strongly of alcohol and didn’t do much for my makeup. I don’t know what I could repurpose this for. Normally I repurpose setting sprays with wetting eyeshadows, but I don’t want the alcohol in here anywhere near my eyes.
The eye and lip makeup:
Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later Eye Primer was a great primer! It’s good against both creasing and fading, and the formula was thin enough to be good on delicate areas of the face. Would I repurchase? Yes, if I knew where. I don’t like buying single items from a company’s online store when I don’t really know the brand.
Smashbox Limitless Liquid Liner Pen in Jet Black – I liked this liner. It lasted a long time and had a great tip on it. The color was pretty dark and pigmented, too! Would I repurchase? Maybe. I have other pen liners from the drugstore that are cheaper but still good alternatives.
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara (review here) is a great mascara! Seriously, read the review to see how this transformed my lashes. Would I repurchase? Probably not – I can’t justify the price of high-end mascara, even for something this good.
Nyx Lip Liner (unfinished) – I rarely use lip liners, and usually just use a liquid lipstick for red lips, so I don’t need this at all.
That’s it for this month’s empties! Don’t forget to enter my giveaway!
