August 2017 Empties

August 2017 Empties

Hi guys! This month, I didn’t really feel like I got through a lot of empties. A good number were full-size empties, though, and I’m not including throwaways. I think I finished everything consistently throughout the month without finishing a lot of products at once, as well. Want to find out what I finished off in August and what I’d repurchase? Then keep reading!

The body products:Body Empties August

First up is the Body Shop Atlas Mountain Rose Body Cream. The scent is super strong, which is because it’s from the perfume line. It also had a weird consistency where it felt soft enough to pick up near the top but firm underneath, as if it softened up with body heat. This was very moisturizing but made my skin a little slick all day long. It was annoying if I used this on my thighs when I wore a skirt or shorts.
Would I repurchase? No.

ON: The Body Tea Tree Acness Body Wash is something I found at my local Korean supermarket. It combines K-Beauty and acne body wash! It lathered well and had a really nice small hole to deposit very little product. I usually try to use acne body wash where I need it and a nicer-scented body wash on the rest of my body. It was also pretty inexpensive.
Would I repurchase? Yeah.

Formula 10.0.6 So Totally Clean Deep Pore Cleanser: I’ve talked about this a million times and have gone through numerous bottles. It’s more of a toner, and I primarily use it on my body acne as it’s easier to use some of this on a cotton round than to take a shower twice a day. It’s a holy grail.
Would I repurchase? I already have.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream (not shown): I used this mainly as a hand cream. It’s supposed to be for “head to toe” but the texture seems like it would be a mess on the face. It was moisturizing without being greasy, as if it’s an oil-free formula, but didn’t make the skin soft or supple and left a slight film or waxiness or something.
Would I repurchase? No.

Dove Original Clean deodorant: I used the cucumber deodorant for years and the line became less effective over time. Apparently that includes the entire brand.

The skincare empties:Skincare Empties August

I’m through my Mario Badescu Acne Facial Cleanser. This is the perfect balance of effective against acne without being too drying for my normal-to-dry skin. I think it has to do with the fact that it’s not really a foaming gel cleanser. It can foam a slight bit at times, especially when using something like a konjac sponge.
Would I repurchase? I already did.

Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel is an acne treatment that I really like. I talked with one of the Dermalogica ladies at Ulta and she recommended this. I tried her samples and then purchased it! It seemed to work miracles on my acne overnight and wouldn’t irritate my skin from being too harsh. Over time I feel like it’s become less effective. I primarily used it as a spot treatment.
Would I repurchase? Maybe.

Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream: Another product from that Sephora kit. It has a really interesting texture that is rich and creamy while still being whipped somehow. It’s thicker than whipped cream or a mousse, maybe more like a whipped yogurt. It seemed too thick for my skin, as if it couldn’t spread out into a thin enough layer to properly absorb. It was just too heavy.
Would I repurchase? No.

The masks:

The green L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask was overhyped. I first tried the black one and thought it was a pretty average charcoal mask. I decided to try this one, but it’s just not meant for my skin type. It’s mattifying and would strip my skin without doing anything for my acne. The mask was a lot creamier to apply than the black one and dried down in 5-10 minutes.
Would I repurchase? No.

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment: Did you see my recent post on this? It did do a lot for my skin – unclogged pores, made active acne clear up faster, prevented a lot of new acne, and made an improvement on those big bumpy red acne scars.
Would I repurchase? Not for the price!

Mizon sheet masks in Rose and Green Tea: I’ve been loving rose, green tea, and aloe lately. These masks were hydrating and calming. There isn’t a lot of excess essence on my face once I’m done, so it’s easy to just pat into the skin without feeling sticky or slick. I bought a variety pack of the Mizon line, and so far I’ve been enjoying it!
Would I repurchase? Yes to these individual varieties.

Memebox I Dew Care sheet masks: I didn’t notice much difference with the tea tree mask. Acne sheet masks and tea tree oil both aren’t that effective for me. I preferred the mugwort mask, as it felt pampering and calming.
Would I repurchase? I still have some left, but probably not.

The makeup empties:Makeup Empties August

Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Translucent Face Powder: I found this somewhat hard to work with, probably because it included sunscreen. Originally, it had this cool pattern of two different tan shades swirled together, which I assumed was from the SPF. Some is obviously left, but it’s too hard to use now.
Would I repurchase? No.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara: This was somewhat old when I opened it, so I think it started drying out in the tube. It was a very dry formula from day one and gave very natural results.
Would I repurchase? No.

L’Oreal Brow Plumper brow gel (that name could be wrong – the writing rubbed off): Most days I just use brow gel for my brows. It’s easy to apply, looks more natural, and still lets me fill in sparse areas like my arches by brushing hairs in certain directions. This is my drugstore go-to and I’ve repurchased it before.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural lipstick in N9: This shade was a very flattering everyday rosy nude. The mini size was adorable and so easy to finish off!

That’s it for this month! How many empties did you go through? What did you finish up?
