Birthday Haul! Feat. Ulta, Sephora, The Body Shop

Birthday Haul! Feat. Ulta, Sephora, The Body Shop

Hi guys! I’m back with a new haul. I think we all know by now that in the beauty world, there are birthday treats galore to pick up. So of course, I’m going to treat myself. Especially with Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty sale going on and the new releases of holiday launches. Want to know what goodies I got? Then prepare yourselves for goodies galore!

The deals I received:

The Body Shop had their typical deals – Buy 2 Get 1 Free and Buy 3 Get 3 Free. I usually go for the three freebies.

TBS $10 off birthday coupon

Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty: For three weeks, there were some ridiculous deals with select prestige brands/products. Some deals (usually 50% off select items) were daily. Others were weekly or for the whole event. I made a plan of action on the items I wanted, but only actually bought one of those items.

Ulta’s birthmonth 2x points: Every purchase you make during your birthmonth will earn double points (plus whatever other multipliers are going on).

Ulta 5x points: There were a couple random days where I was earning 5x points on everything. I’m not sure why, and I only saw it as a banner in some of the standard Ulta emails.

Ulta birthday coupon: Platinum members get a $10 off coupon as a second birthday gift.

Sephora coupon: I received a coupon in the mail for a free mascara sample in Sephora in JCPenney.

Birthday gifts are in the freebies section at the end.

The body products:

The Body Shop body butters in Moringa, Honeymania, and Wild Argan Oil: How can you go wrong with TBS body butters? These all smell heavenly, too!

The Body Shop body butters in Cocoa Butter and Almond: I found these at Burlington for $7 each. These are still less expensive than ones with the B3G3 deals. I’ll use up Almond first, as it’s old packaging and so probably an older product.

OPI nail polish in Check Out the Old Geysirs: The Iceland collection caught my attention. I don’t usually buy OPI, but this color is such a pretty gray creme with a blue shift. I actually don’t have any gray polish, either, and think it does look so pretty!

The skincare products:

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels: I love eye products that are cooling and calming without being irritating. I’ve also used these in the past. I believe I got a pair or two as either Birchbox samples or freebies from an Ulta purchase.

Peter Thomas Roth Moor Please! kit: This was on markdown! It’s a great price and I love the mask. The cleanser will be a great thing to try.

The Body Shop Seaweed Mask: I’m a sucker for face masks, and this has been one I wanted to try. I love seaweed and wanted to try something from this line for a while.

The Body Shop HimalayanCharcoal Clay Mask: Again, another clay mask that I wanted to try.

The Body Shop Ethiopian Honey Mask:  My skin is more normal-to-dry and lately I haven’t been using enough nourishing products.

Sheet masks from Garnier and Tonymoly : I’ve never tried these masks before. I’m familiar with the Tonymoly I’m Real line, but not either of these.

The face products:

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer in Ready to Go: I recently decided to stop using my Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess bronzer because it’s well past its expiration date. I think I hit pan on it over a year ago, but am still nowhere near finished. My replacement from Revlon is matte, so I figured this shimmery one would make a nice alternative. I also wanted to try more products from MUR, as I’ve only ever tried their eyeshadows.

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Radiant Lights: The pinky champagne tones here spoke to me.

Makeup Revolution Matte Blush in Fusion: This is a pretty everyday matte blush.

Tarte set: Not sure why I decided to photograph this here, as the kit contains a blush and highlighter in one compact, along with a lip crayon/lip liner duo, a mascara, and a perfume. I was planning on redeeming points at Ulta and one of the items I wanted  ended up not being available in store yet, so I chose this to hit my price point. The perfume is a sweet teenager-y scent. The other three products all seem decent, but I’m not thrilled by my spur-of-the-moment decision.

The eye products:

Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette: This is now half-priced at $27, and I figured why not? I’ve never tried the Naked range before, as I’m not big on nudes. This is the closest palette to my preferred neutral tones, if a bit dark overall and less versatile than the others because the shades are so similar.

BareMinerals holiday palette: I tried a set of their loose shadows a few years ago and loved the collection of shades. I was disappointed to find that they were releasing a palette instead of loose shades this year, but the cool-toned neutrals seemed right up my alley. Some of the shades swatched patchily because my fingers must have still been damp from my makeup remover wipe.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Precision Longwear Liner: This was a daily deal at Ulta, meaning I only paid $10. I’m also always on the hunt for a new HG pen liner.

Flower eyeshadow quad: The shades here just spoke to me when I was in Walmart one day. The greens and that lavender… I never tried Flower before, but the shades seem buttery and easy to use for the drugstore.

The lip products:

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Ravenswood: This shade seemed like the perfect everyday neutral lippie. I also loved the name. This will be my first cream Vice lippie! I loved the Revolution lipsticks, and like the Comfort Matte formula. The swatch looks a lot darker than it does on the lips.

Lipstick Queen Lipstick Chess in Rook: I’ve wanted to try this brand for years, and the sale let me try something for way less than I was expecting. The shade is a very pretty tone for fall.

Lorac Alter Ego lipstick in Cat Lady: I don’t have a lot of cooler shades, and think this pink will be flattering. Again, another brand of lipstick I wanted to try and managed to get on sale. Also, this name is gre

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Double Dare: Another nude-ish shade to go along with my Lolitas. This is among my favorite brands of liquid lippies.

Nyx Lip Lingerie in Embellishment: I first tried a horrible shade from this line. The color was pale and the wrong undertone. The formula was also really uncomfortable and looked bad. I’m giving this range a second chance, as lighter shades can be hard to formulate and I’d rather be fair. It’s less drying and a more flattering shade, but there’s something weird about the formula, almost waxy.

Nyx Liquid Suede in Cherry Skies: I’m on the hunt for a new darker red lipstick, and I think this is it. My HG red, Stila Beso, is very bright and summery, so I wanted something a little more appropriate for the cooler months. It seems better than some of the other darker reds I’ve tried, but still a bit too pink.

Swatched from R to L as listed.

The freebies:

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara: This is a new release. I’m excited to try it, and do like the oil slick packaging!

BareMinerals Lash Domination Mascara: My Sephora inside JCPenney coupon.

Makeup Revolution palette: I saw this in the Ulta circular and was surprised by a full-size palette as a free gift, especially for such a low price point (a $15 purchase). It has a lot of fun warm eyeshadow colors for fall and another pretty highlighter. The shades are all very pigmented, other than the darkest brown, which can go on a bit patchy.

Nyx Happy Birthday palette: This was the Ulta birthday gift. The shades are on trend and perfect for fall. I don’t have a warm palette and will be able to get use from this. Most of the shades were pigmented and easy to use.

Skyn Iceland Acne Dots: You can read my review of this here. I still have plenty of acne dots left (they’ve ended up as something I just don’t reach for all that often).

Caudalie birthday gift: At Sephora, you get a choice for your birthday gift. I want to explore more from Caudalie, and the Tarte gift was a mixed bag. This includes the Vinoperfect Radiance Serum and the Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet.

The verdict:

I bought way too much stuff, as usual, especially considering when my last haul was. But I got some very interesting products.

Let me know if you want any reviews! I’d like to do a comparison of UD’s Naked Smoky vs Smoked palettes, but otherwise I’ll review plenty of other things!
