November Empties

November Empties

Hi guys! It’s finally time for my November empties! I ended up taking a couple weeks off of blogging, partly because of work and partly so I could focus on other things in my spare time. The post was written and pictures were taken two weeks ago, but I just didn’t make the finishing touches. I didn’t go through a lot, either, but rather focused on working through larger products.

The perfume:

Pinrose Pillowtalk Poet: This is a weird little towelette with the scent on it. You rub the towelette on wherever you want. It’s an unusual method, and at first all you smell is the rubbing alcohol. After that, I smelled something very light and powdery, reminiscent of a body spray I had from Bath and Body Works back in middle school. I think it was Moonlight Path, but it’s been a decade and I could be wrong. I got this as a freebie from Sephora.
Would I repurchase? No.

The hair:

Lush H’Suen Wen Hua: I went into Lush for some new haircare. I had an organic shampoo that worked wonders until my scalp started getting used to it, and I haven’t found any good shampoos since. I’ve used some high-end brands, but still end up with dandruff and an itchy scalp. As the big thing with my old shampoo was organic, I decided to try Lush and asked for some product recommendations. This conditioning treatment was one of those recommendations.

You use this on dry hair before you shampoo your hair. Because of that, you use a lot of product, especially if you have very thick hair like me. I normally used this only on my scalp, as that was my target area and the one time I used this throughout all my hair, I went through a ton of product. I didn’t notice a huge difference between using this and not, though.
Would I repurchase? No. It’s just a little too expensive for what I get from it.

Octavio Argan Oil: I love me some hair oil! This one was a pretty standard argan oil. I’m bad at telling the difference between hair oils, as most of the ones I’ve used work so similarly. I got this as an Ipsy product about two years ago.
Would I repurchase? No. I have no idea where to buy the brand, and can find similar oils from other brands easily.

The brush cleanser:

Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleanser: Meet my brush cleanser! I’m normally a fan of shampoo for cleaning my brushes, but I got this as a free sample somewhere after hearing that it makes a good brush cleanser. It’s not a face cleanser I particularly care for, so it was my brushes or the trash.
Would I repurchase? No. I can find shampoo for cheaper.

The skincare:

Caudalie Make Up Removing Cleansing Oil: Read my review. My thoughts are still the same on this (after all, it’s only been a week and a half). I would like to add that the day after I published that review, the level of product got below the level of the tube/straw inside, so I had to physically unscrew the lid every time I used it since. I did expect that to happen in my review.
Would I repurchase? No.

Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding Mask: I received this in a Sephora Play box here. This is that cool-looking mask with black and white swirls. I didn’t find much difference between the two and found that they’d mix together on my face. Parts would be lighter or darker gray.
Would I repurchase? Maybe in a while.

Glamglow Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Beam: I’ve talked about this before here. It’s a pretty bad moisturizer for me, and after a few hours it leaves my skin dry. I have to pair it with something else. The shade is kind of highlighter-y, meh, and the scent is of orange medicine. It’s weird.
Would I repurchase? No.

Dr. Jart Water Drop Hydrating Moisturizer: This came from the same set as the Glamglow moisturizer above, and I talked about it in the same post I linked to. It’s more about hydration, not moisture, so it’s not ideal for me. I’d put it on and my skin would feel almost wet. It did feel nice in the summer months.
Would I repurchase? No.

Skyn Blemish Dots: I reviewed these here. You place these clear stickers on acne overnight, and the pimple will fade quicker. I found these to be pretty effective when they stay on all night, but they can fall off relatively easily.
Would I repurchase? Not sure. I rarely use these dots.

The sheet masks:

Too Cool For School Egg Cream Mask: I’ll be talking about this more in my next post, but I really liked this mask. The mask is small enough to fit my face without leaving bunches of fabric everywhere. Stick around to find out more!
Would I repurchase? Maybe a set of these.

Memebox I Dew Care Up All Night Brightening Citrus Lime Mask: What a mouthful! I do like vitamin C, but this was just citrus and I wasn’t a fan.
Would I repurchase? No.

Mizon Joyful Time Cucumber mask: For whatever reason, I think of cucumber as a soothing mask perfect for pampering. So when I had a reason to pamper, I threw this on! I can’t really remember what this was like, other than that it was doing something different than I expected.
Would I repurchase? Maybe.

The makeup:

Smashbox Primer Oil: I love this stuff. It’s a great primer for dry skin. I primarily use this around my nose, which is very dry, but will use it on the rest of my face on occasion. It can make my skin look oily at times, though.
Would I repurchase? I already have!

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield SPF 30: I thought this was supposed to be SPF that acted like a primer. I heard it be referred to as a primer with SPF in it, though, and I think I used it more as a primer. At times it would pill up because it didn’t work with whatever moisturizer I had underneath it. I found it needed thicker creams to work best.
Would I repurchase? Probably not.

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Hydrating Primer: I bought this last winter when my skin was dry. When I buy primers, I never think that I need more oils in a moisturizer instead of something that adds water to the skin. This was a poor fit. It just doesn’t do much for me.
Would I repurchase? No.

Maybelline Master Precise pen liner in Black: I love pen liners. I went to buy a replacement of my favorite, the Revlon Color Stay pen liner, but they were out of stock so I bought this instead. I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. It was a good black shade, not too watery or too pale.
Would I repurchase? No.

The final thoughts:

Okay guys, it definitely feels like I had a decent set of empties this month. Still not as large as I like, but I’ve been going through enough of these products long enough that I’m excited to finish them. Plus there are even more products I’ll undoubtedly finish off in December.

  1. I took some time off as well and am continuing to take it easy with my blog! Sometimes it’s needed! Blogging can be so time consuming so it’s important to not neglect other aspects of our lives!
I have that GlamGlow moisturizer as well but it doesn’t work for my skin at all. It leaves me too shiny! Definitely not good for an oily skinned gal haha.
I used that egg cream mask last month! I’d repurchase if it weren’t so expensive but I agree I’d be more willing to buy it in a set!
